Bursaries for young social entrepreneurs to attend SEWF22

If you’re under 30 years of age and a social entrepreneur in Queensland or Papua New Guinea, you could be awarded a bursary to attend The Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF22), but be quick applications close 1 June.

This international event will be held in Brisbane in September. Attendees will get to:

-meet the movers and shakers in the world of social enterprise

-learn from best practice

-network with fellow participants

-hear from policymakers and contribute to the conversation and;

-continue innovating

There are 15 bursaries valued at $2,000 each for young Queenslanders and eight bursaries valued at $2,500 for young people in Papua New Guinea. The bursaries cover attendance, return travel and accommodation.

As a supporter of the SEWF, Hand Heart Pocket is funding these 23 spots to make sure those that want to come and be part of this special gathering can, regardless of circumstance.

What is a social enterprise?

Social enterprises are businesses that help to address social issues in the community. They reinvest the majority of their profits into the business to help achieve their social purpose. Examples include Hire up and Vanguard Laundry Services. According to recent government data, there are close to 300 social enterprises in Queensland.

SEWF’s goal is to grow the global social enterprise movement in order to accelerate our transition to a new global impact economy. Since the first Social Enterprise World Forum in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2008, these events have brought together thousands of people from around the world to build community, capacity and capability within the social enterprise sector. Each year, the event moves around the world, working with a different co-host to bring participants challenging, topical programmes featuring local, national and international expertise.
