Hand Heart Pocket has responded quickly each time disaster has struck over the summer, with $150,000 now donated on behalf of the Freemasons of Queensland to our disaster response partner GIVIT since December 2023.
Our response includes:
– $100,000 in disaster assistance in North and Far North Queensland, after Tropical Cyclone Jasper and Tropical Cyclone Kirrily; and
– $50,000 to support recovery from the severe SEQ Storms over the Christmas period.
100% of these donations have gone directly from GIVIT to disaster-affected households, helping with:
– Immediate needs – vouchers for food, clothing, medication, school supplies, fuel vouchers to run generators, and
– Recovery – helping people with longer-term needs, such as replacing essential household furniture and whitegoods, clothing, school supplies and uniforms.

Refer affected community members to their local community organisations for assistance
The road to recovery is long and Members may be aware of affected residents in their regions who still need assistance.
Members can refer affected residents to their local community organisations, such as community centres and neighbourhood houses, who will already be registered with GIVIT, and well-placed to help Members and communities access what they need.
About GIVIT
